Chapter 57: Are You Speaking in Riddles? What a Coincidence, So Am I
by reimuTwenty kilometers outside the Silver Dragon border, atop a towering general’s tower, a man walked to Star-Wandering Dragon King Ravi’s side.
“I told you already, intimidation has no effect on Leon Casmode. Your ‘ghost’ didn’t frighten him – instead, it let him prepare defenses early through those traces.”
Days ago, Ravi had used spatial magic to silently eliminate a sentry post in the Silver Dragon border forest.
He had intended to shake them up, to gauge his opponent’s caliber.
The result was predictable – Ravi had underestimated his opponent’s attentiveness and tactical response ability.
Almost the same night the sentry was eliminated, the Silver Dragon clan cancelled all independent posts, switching to five-person mobile patrol groups.
Moreover, the five people in each group maintained twenty-meter intervals, creating a hundred-meter battle line that left no escape for any “ghost.”
Ravi’s spatial magic couldn’t risk moving carelessly now.
But regarding the man’s hindsight criticism beside him, Ravi just coldly snorted,
“How dare you assume these counter-tactics came from Leon Casmode?”
The man shrugged indifferently, “He used this tactic before when serving the Empire – it’s one of his classic anti-infiltration strategies.”
“Your spatial magic has a limited range, and his line formations stretch to a hundred meters with everyone watching each other. You have no opening to strike.”
“Heh… if you ask me, we shouldn’t have bothered with psychological warfare from the start. Should’ve just had Sta come directly.”
Radiant Star Dragon King Sta’s status among dragonkind even surpassed Constantine’s.
Ravi slowly shifted his gaze from Silver Dragon territory to the man’s face beside him.
His tone was low, carrying hints of threat,
“Nacho Salamander, the Empire and we dragons merely have a cooperative relationship, not a hierarchical one. Know your place – the Radiant Star Dragon King isn’t someone you can summon and dismiss at will.”
It was clear Ravi held great respect for Sta.
But Nacho didn’t care.
He just sneered, “I’m not the one calling Sta here – this is ‘that person’s’ order.”
When mentioning ‘that person,’ Nacho’s face showed pure reverence, as if ‘that person’ were right beside him.
Ravi’s brows furrowed.
He knew the reason Nacho, a mere messenger, dared to act so arrogantly and speak boldly before him, a Dragon King, was entirely due to his backing from ‘that person.’
And Ravi’s presence here today overseeing the battle was also ‘that person’s’ instruction.
‘That person’ said while the Radiant Star Dragon King was powerful, they should still have backup plans just in case.
Those backup plans meant Ravi.
But Ravi couldn’t understand how there could possibly be a human in this world capable of defeating Sta.
Just because they defeated Constantine, they dare claim “invincibility.”
Humans… truly a narrow-minded race, Ravi thought.
“Speaking of which, Ravi, that secret weapon you’ve been researching with Blai and Jagus should be perfected by now, right?” Nacho asked.
“Do you think without perfecting it, your ‘Lord’ would let me be Sta’s backup?” Ravi’s tone remained low.
Nacho understood these Dragon Kings – each had a particularly nasty temper and viewed most humans like ants.
But he enjoyed this feeling of ‘you can’t stand me but don’t dare eliminate me.’
So he continued making forced conversation with Ravi,
“By the way, when we called you back, you were still in the Far North, right? How are things progressing there?”
Ravi’s patience was wearing thin, but he still had to endure answering this arrogant messenger, “Very smoothly. After all, I’m the only one in the Far North team who can use spatial magic. Even if their progress was delayed, they wouldn’t suspect me at all.”
“That’s good.”
Nacho deliberately acted relieved, letting out a sigh.
Ravi glared at him, as if this matter had anything to do with a mere messenger – he was really overthinking things.
“I heard the Far North team is full of hidden talents, even including Angelina Olet.”
“Mm, after all, we’re dealing with the seal of ‘that thing,'” Ravi slowed his speech.
You, Nacho, kept referring to ‘that Lord’ earlier, speaking in riddles;
So I’ll repay you with ‘that thing’ – drive yourself crazy with curiosity.
Nacho glanced at Ravi, knowing he didn’t want to say more, and simply changed the topic,
“Actually, for the power of ‘that thing,’ Leon Casmode would make a good ‘vessel.'”
Ravi raised an eyebrow, finally unable to resist asking his doubt, “Is Casmode really that powerful in your eyes?”
“Trust me, Ravi, he’s stronger than anyone can comprehend.”
Nacho narrowed his eyes looking into the distance, his expression turning serious,
“That’s why we need methods beyond comprehension to defeat him. This is also why ‘that Lord’ sent you here. You’re not Sta’s backup, but rather the unexpected killing blow for victory.”
Ravi’s vertical dragon pupils trembled slightly.
When… had the human race nurtured a monster that required several Dragon Kings working together and still needed an “element of surprise” to defeat?
He shook his head, pulling back his wandering thoughts.
His gaze followed Nacho’s line of sight.
He saw a man wearing golden armor slowly walking toward the Silver Dragon territory’s boundary line.
And at the exit where Constantine’s head was hanging, two figures were walking towards them.
“Rosvitha Melkvi… she’s actually taking the field personally,” Ravi muttered.
“This time, we’re in for quite a show,” Nacho agreed.
At the distant boundary, Silver Dragon soldiers and the maid corps lined up in formation, with Anna and Shelly standing at the front of the ranks.
Unlike Constantine’s previous invasion, this time the soldiers weren’t first-wave sacrificial pawns.
From the start, it would be a battle between Dragon King levels.
“Star Dragon King Sta… does it really require both Her Majesty and the Prince Consort together to handle him?” Shelly’s voice was full of worry.
Anna slowly shook her head, “Constantine was already beyond my comprehension. I don’t know how powerful this Sta is… Shelly, don’t you think the battles have been quite frequent lately?”
Shelly paused briefly, then tried to find humor in the bitter situation, “The Silver Dragon clan has been active for a thousand years. Maybe everyone finally noticed our territory’s favorable environment and wants a piece of it.”
Anna smiled, “If that’s really the case, I think we’ll probably need to expand the border entrance afterward.”
Shelly blinked, “Why?”
Anna turned to look at Constantine’s head hanging at the border entrance,
“The space is too small, we won’t have room to hang them all.”
