Chapter Index

When they returned to the cave, the master and disciple were still discussing various recent events.
Hearing footsteps, Leon turned to look.
He saw the tall and short figures walking and chatting, their faces beaming with smiles like old friends reuniting after many years.
Leon was stunned.
Weren’t these two barely acquainted half an hour ago?
How did they become such close friends in just over twenty minutes?
“Captain, Old Dad, we’re back!”
Rebecca ran up, “Are you done talking?”
“Almost.”
Leon looked at the strangely excited Rebecca, then raised his head to look at the dragon behind her, “What did you tell her?”
Rosvitha innocently spread her hands, “I didn’t tell her anything.”
She told me everything, hehe.
Leon pursed his lips, muttering “strange” before continuing to discuss imperial matters with his master.
He recounted the events of the next six months again.
Then asked about the Sea Dragon clan and the Nine Hell Gates.
“The ‘Nine Hell Gates’ was written by the Sea Dragon clan? Ah? I’m not clear about that. I just had someone casually steal a martial arts manual from the empire, didn’t expect it to be such a valuable item.”
The expected “I don’t know” response.
Leon didn’t press further.
Although he vaguely felt the old man was hiding something from him, he had asked so directly and his master still kept quiet, so naturally there must be a reason.
“Oh also, Master, could you investigate these three people later?”
Saying this, Leon handed over a list.
Teg took it and looked, “Gini, Gitai, Gimei… just looking at their names, you can tell these three aren’t ordinary.”
“Yes, in the future, they’re the Empire’s ‘Dagger Special Forces.’ They’re very powerful, spending over a decade hunting dragon kings, but I feel their power is strange, not quite like normal human magic.”
Leon said, “If possible, try to find out these three people’s backgrounds.”
Teg nodded, carefully storing the list, “Alright, I’ll start investigating as soon as I get back.”
In the future, Leon had only briefly encountered the Dagger trio once, and it barely counted as a confrontation.
But even so, the power those three displayed was enough to make Leon take notice.
Moreover, it wasn’t just Leon who felt the Dagger trio’s power was strange – even future Noia and Little Light said those three’s power came from an unknown source.
So Leon felt investigating them was necessary.
It would be best to nip this unknown threat in the bud.
After all, who knows what other outrageous things the Empire might come up with.
“Anything else that needs investigating?” Teg asked.
Leon had brought back quite a bit of intelligence from the future, and they needed to make use of all of it.
The key was having this information advantage.
To catch that dog emperor off guard.
Leon thought for a moment and said, “Then also look into someone called Nacho Salaman.”
“Nacho Salaman?”
“Yes, he used to be a minor civil official in the Empire’s Dragon Slaying Army. After sending me into the spatial rift, he somehow rose all the way to the royal court. The Dagger trio I just mentioned has very close ties with him. We might be able to uncover something by investigating him.”
“I understand. Anything else?”
“Hmm… what’s left isn’t related to the Empire.”
Teg smiled, “Whatever it is, just say it.”
“Master, do you know about Primal Magic?” Leon asked.
“Primal Magic…”
Hearing the master and disciple mention Primal Magic, Rosvitha, who had been quietly waiting nearby, immediately turned her attention to them.
She was somewhat surprised, as Leon hadn’t told her before coming here that he wanted to ask his master about Primal Magic.
Though speaking of which, since she decided to practice Primal Magic, progress hadn’t been very smooth.
As she initially thought, records about Primal Magic were extremely scarce. She could only piece together bits and fragments about Primal Magic from various ancient texts and documents, then try to integrate them.
It was quite complex work that required patience.
“I’ve heard of it, but don’t know much about it. Why, you want to learn Primal Magic?”
Leon blinked and said, “Yeah, I want to give it a try.”
“Have you finished practicing the Nine Hell Gates I gave you last time?”
“Like I said earlier, your granddaughter pretty much taught me everything in the future. Besides, in this world, having more skills never hurts. Who would complain about having too many abilities?”
His master pointed at Leon, “You greedy kid. Alright, when I get back I’ll ask some old friends to see if they can find any books about Primal Magic. I’ll give them to you next time we meet.”
“Great, thanks Master!”
Having discussed all the important matters, Leon then asked about his master’s wife.
“Oh, your master’s wife… After you disappeared into the spatial rift, your master’s wife and I met once.”
His master said rather emotionally, “She beat me up, saying don’t come back until you find Leon. Speaking of which, I should thank you – fortunately you came back, otherwise your master’s wife might have divorced me.”
The divorce part was a bit of an exaggeration.
But Leon could tell his master’s wife was genuinely worried about him.
“Then next time we meet, bring master’s wife along too. I haven’t seen her in ages,” Leon said.
“About that… I can’t say. Her family is quite… cautious. They know we’re in trouble with the Empire and don’t want your master’s wife involved.”
Leon quickly nodded, “Oh, I understand, no pressure. We can go see master’s wife after everything is settled.”
“Mm. If there’s nothing else, let’s leave it at that.”
“Alright, Master.”
“Be careful on your way back, and remember to practice regularly, don’t get lazy,” his master reminded.
“I know, Master. You, Rebecca and Martin take care of yourselves too.”
“Mm.”
Rebecca ran over from the side,
“Captain, wishing you and sister-in-law a happy life together!”
Leon was taken aback, “W-why did you suddenly say that… and what’s with this strange ‘sister-in-law’ title? Rosvitha, you actually let her call you sister-in-law?”
The Queen sat elegantly on a wooden chair nearby, crossing her long legs, and said leisurely,
“What’s wrong with that?”
Well well.
You two haven’t known each other long but you’ve already become such close buddies, huh?
Leon smiled and poked Rebecca’s forehead, “Crazy girl, don’t call her that casually, I’m not that close with your sister-in-law.”
Rebecca: ?
Fine fine, you two just keep pretending you’re not close.
“Then see you next time.”
Leon waved goodbye to the old man and young girl, then went to the cave entrance with Rosvitha.
The Queen spread her dragon wings, half turning her head to secretly wink at Rebecca.
Rebecca raised her hand to make an ‘OK’ gesture in response.
Teg watched their interaction and couldn’t help asking,
“Are you two exchanging some kind of secret signals?”
Rebecca grinned mysteriously and said, “Old Dad, your disciple’s married life… is about to become much more colorful.”
