Chapter 7: Love Tutoring Class (2)
by reimuThat evening, in the study.
The couple was researching how to teach their love experience to Rosvitha’s clan members tomorrow.
Leon expressed deep skepticism about this endeavor.
“Your clan members are sincerely seeking your help, but you’re going to respond with fake love experience. I don’t think that’s appropriate.”
“At this point, where am I supposed to find real love experience? You’ll have to do.”
“How dare you! Dragon mother, I’m your legitimate husband, how am I just ‘making do’?”
The Queen crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow, teasing, “One moment you’re calling it fake love, the next you’re claiming to be my legitimate husband. You switch positions quite fast, Casmode.”
“I have a very flexible set of standards when it comes to evaluating our relationship.”
Rosvitha snorted and shook her head, “Enough. Whether it’s fake love or a legitimate marriage, we need to come up with something tonight, or we’ll have nothing to teach tomorrow. Everyone will be disappointed, which won’t help our grand plan of revitalizing the species.”
Leon sat in his chair, leisurely crossing his legs, “So where does Her Majesty want to start summarizing?”
“I’m not too sure how to share about normal romance either… Let me check some novels.”
With that, Rosvitha walked to the bookshelf and picked out several romance novels.
Modern romance novels all followed similar patterns:
Meeting then parting, reuniting by chance, developing a connection through some event, and finally holding hands, embracing, and kissing.
After reading for a while, Rosvitha found that these classic romance tropes didn’t quite fit her and Leon.
Their meeting and getting to know each other was rather… abstract.
So abstract that even now, she herself found it somewhat hard to believe.
“How do we beautify the story of how we met into something people can accept?” Rosvitha asked.
Leon furrowed his brows in thought, then said quite seriously,
“That’s easy, isn’t it? We’ll just say you fell in love with me at first sight, then persistently chased after me for two years before I finally agreed, then—”
“Nonsense! Leon, could you tell me what material your face is made of? I want to use it to reinforce the outer walls of my Silver Dragon Temple – it would surely be impenetrable and indestructible!”
The General grinned and began explaining to Rosvitha in detail,
“I’m not making this up. Think about it – what was the first thing you said to me when you entered the dungeon back then?”
Rosvitha blinked as she recalled.
Before the queen could speak, Leon answered for her:
“You said ‘He’s quite a handsome and strong man, the scar is the perfect addition to that face,’ isn’t that right?”
Rosvitha’s cheeks reddened as she stammered, “Y-yes… I said that, but so what?”
“So what? Your Majesty, you called me handsome the first time you saw me – isn’t that love at first sight?” Leon argued confidently.
“You…!”
Rosvitha couldn’t help but laugh at this shameless man’s words.
She quickly walked over and put her hands on his neck, “I’ll end you right now! Let you go to the afterlife with that smug face of yours!”
Rosvitha didn’t use much force, and Leon played along, gently holding her wrists while rolling his eyes and sticking out his tongue, pretending to be dead.
Rosvitha shook him a couple times, still not satisfied, and then playfully punched his chest,
“Come on, be serious, I really don’t have any good ideas, give me some inspiration.”
Leon dropped his playful expression and thought carefully before saying, “Your people rarely interact with the opposite sex, and basically haven’t experienced romance, so they must really yearn for love.”
“Mm, and then?”
“So we need to portray this emotion as beautifully and passionately as possible, but without being too unrealistic.”
The queen pondered thoughtfully, “Oh~ This is called relatability, I understand.”
“All those novels you’ve read weren’t for nothing.” Leon praised with a smile.
Her silver tail raised slightly behind her as Rosvitha hummed proudly.
But her smile suddenly froze the next second.
Hiss~
Something’s not right.
How could she, the Queen, be so happy her tail wagged just from a mere compliment from her little captive?
Impossible, must be because she’s not feeling well tonight, yes, that must be it.
Lost in these thoughts, she heard Leon continue:
“In my opinion, how we met and got to know each other isn’t the key point you should share tomorrow. Because your people all date within their own kind, everyone has lived in the Silver Dragon tribe for decades or hundreds of years and already know each other, so they don’t need some fateful romantic encounter, don’t you think?”
“Mm~ That makes sense. So should we focus on the daily interactions?”
“Yes.”
Leon said, “Though our way of interacting might not suit everyone, because people have different personalities and ways of doing things, so there’s no standard template for ‘interaction’ – it completely depends on whether two people are compatible.”
“But there is one thing that lovers must pay attention to when getting along.”
Rosvitha grew interested, “What is it?”
“Boundaries.”
“Boundaries?”
“Yes.”
Leon said, “Remember at the beginning, we used all kinds of methods to torment each other, trying to make each other feel uncomfortable and disgusted. But looking back now, you’ll find that even when our conflict was at its most intense, we still never crossed each other’s boundaries.”
“Let me give some examples.”
“When you took me back to the empire back then, we did… did that thing in the forest outside, and afterwards we encountered a dragon-slaying squad, right?”
Rosvitha nodded.
“At that time, you could have easily killed those people, you even had your magical energy gathered and ready to strike. But I stopped you, and you didn’t take any further action. Think back to what was going through your mind then?”
Rosvitha rested her chin on her hand, reminiscing for a moment. Then she curled her lips into a smile and looked into Leon’s eyes,
“I didn’t want to make you too devastated. Hmph, it really was strange – even though I hated you to death at that time, I still held back a little, and I don’t know why. Are there other examples?”
She wasn’t someone who liked to reminisce about the past.
Dragons lived far too long, and looking back at the past was an exhausting thing.
But when recalling these little moments with Leon, she found herself quite enthusiastic.
From starting as sworn enemies to now being “bedroom comrades,” she really wanted to know how things had changed along the way.
“Yes.”
Leon gave another example,
“Like the first time I used the dragon mark to control you, we were right there at your bedroom doorway, with your maid outside the door, and I forced you to keep quiet. But if I had wanted to ruin your reputation, I could have just opened the door – after all, I didn’t care what your people thought of me.”
Rosvitha lightly kicked his knee, “Can’t you use different examples? This kind of thing… just let it drown in the river of history!”
Leon smiled, taking the opportunity to hold up Rosvitha’s ankle, placing her small, delicate foot on his leg.
Rosvitha didn’t resist, allowing Leon to remove her shoe.
The shameless man lowered his head to play with her toes while continuing,
“There are many more examples. Every time we tried our best to annoy each other, but still left the other room to breathe. Though part of this was because of our daughters, but if you and I were truly heartless people without boundaries, no amount of daughters would stop us from hurting each other.”
He paused, then added, “Your feet are so soft, they’re fun to play with.”
The queen was speechless, “…The transformation from love expert to foot fetishist seems a bit too sudden, my dear husband?”
Leon gave a little laugh, helped Rosvitha put her shoe back on, then set her foot down,
“Anyway, I personally think the most important thing between lovers is respecting each other’s boundaries – no matter what happens or what conflicts arise, never touch each other’s most vulnerable places.”
Rosvitha nodded slowly, praising sincerely, “I always thought you were just a warrior who knew how to fight, I didn’t expect you to be so insightful about relationships.”
A compliment from the great mother dragon was like a shooting star – rare and precious.
Leon was immediately bubbling with joy and started showing off,
“Of course, after all, I was the school heartthrob when I was a student, with loads of girls lining up to have lunch with me.”
“Oh?”
Rosvitha leaned back slightly, crossed her legs elegantly, gently kicked off her slippers, and used her soft feet to caress Leon’s thigh.
Leon thought the dragon mother was about to reward him.
Cough cough
Though he wasn’t actually into feet, who could resist a little dragon mother’s soft and tender feet?
However, he then heard the queen say playfully,
“Then… among these girls, was there a silver-haired senior student?”
Leon: ?
Bad.
How the HELL did you know about that?!
