Chapter 14: The White Stuff is About to Come Out
by reimu“Leon… I’m, I’m so nervous.”
“Don’t be nervous, there’s a first time for everything. Just try it and you’ll be fine, you need to take that first brave step.”
“But I still don’t feel confident…”
“It’s okay, I’ll guide you from the side. First extend your hand, slowly feel the surge of power, yes… just like that. Can you feel it?”
“I can feel it… it’s a bit hot, and it keeps expanding outward…”
“Mm, see? Even though it’s your first time using this method, you’re doing very well. Continue. Yes, just like that.”
“Leon! Look, is there some white stuff coming out?”
“There really is, keep going, Rosvitha! Hold it steady!”
“I… I feel like I can’t control it anymore, Leon, it’s too hot… let’s stop.”
“Ah… alright. It’s a bit of a shame, we got this far.”
On the lawn of the Silver Dragon Sanctuary’s back garden, the married couple sat cross-legged, facing each other.
Rosvitha waited for the burning sensation in her hands to subside, then looked up at Leon, “First, thank you for practicing Primordial Force concentration with me.”
“But next time when you accompany me in practice, could you please not use such… suggestive words?”
Leon blinked, looking innocent, “How were they suggestive?”
“What do you mean ‘first time’, ‘don’t be nervous’, ‘don’t stop’? Don’t these words sound too strange?”
“Well, what about your ‘white stuff’ and ‘too hot’? Aren’t those just as strange?” Leon countered with solid reasoning.
“I-I was led astray by you!” the Queen argued with equal conviction.
General Leon rolled his eyes, “Come on, mother dragon, we’re not some pure teenage couple who’ve never dated before. What’s wrong with using some adult vocabulary? As long as we understand each other.”
“What do you mean, Casmode? From what you’re saying, it sounds like you’ve dated before?”
“Huh? Don’t you and I count as dating?”
“No!”
“…Whatever you say.”
Leon sighed and leaned back, lying down on the soft grass.
When meeting with Master and Rebecca earlier, Leon had asked Master to help him find books about Primordial Magic, and Master had agreed.
However, neither he nor Rosvitha completely relied on Master being some kind of treasure box that could pull anything they wanted from a four-dimensional pocket.
So after returning, the couple began researching Primordial Magic themselves.
Just as Rosvitha had said before, Primordial Magic was too ancient and mysterious – there wasn’t a single ancient text or document today that recorded it in detail.
So they could only dig out bits about Primordial Magic from various historical texts’ footnotes.
After some exploration, Rosvitha discovered that using Primordial Magic required first condensing “Primordial Force.”
Using ordinary magic power would greatly reduce the effectiveness of Primordial Magic.
At first, Rosvitha couldn’t grasp the knack of condensing Primordial Force at all.
This had nothing to do with talent or how serious one was – when it came to Primordial Magic, anyone would be clueless at the beginning.
However, until a few days ago, Rosvitha was surprised to find that she could faintly feel a force completely different from ordinary magic power surging within her body.
So these days, she had been trying to draw out this power from within.
Today, with Leon’s assistance, Rosvitha had made some progress.
She opened her palm, and a small white energy flame flickered and danced in her palm.
“It’s strange though – I couldn’t feel the Primordial Force at all before, but after just a few days, I can now condense it,” Rosvitha said.
Leon lay on the grass, looking at the sky. “This just proves how good my guidance was.”
Rosvitha snorted lightly and kicked his leg, “Stop being so narcissistic.”
Leon chuckled and sat up, looking at Rosvitha’s beautiful, bright face, “Then it must be because my wife is exceptionally talented.”
Caught off guard by the compliment, the Queen’s lips curved upward proudly, “Hmph, good that you know.”
After a pause, Rosvitha suddenly realized something.
Coming to her senses, she raised her foot to kick Leon again, “Stop trying to get close to me, who’s your wife? You should address me as Her Majesty the Queen.”
“Yes~ Yes~ Your Majesty the Queen.”
This dog of a man’s words had gotten much sweeter lately, who knows what he’d eaten.
Could it be that his wooden brain had finally enlightened, realizing how good she was?
Or was he plotting some evil scheme?
Based on Rosvitha’s understanding of him, this guy wouldn’t suddenly become so smooth-talking without reason.
There must be something fishy going on!
However, the truth wasn’t as complicated as the Queen imagined.
Leon just felt that when he was in the future, he had promised their daughters that after returning, he would be more proactive in his relationship with Rosvitha.
But now that life had truly returned to normal, he became a bit cowardly again.
However, how could the great General Leon go back on his word?
Since he promised his daughters, he must follow through!
Since being proactive was somewhat difficult, why not just say some sweet words that mother dragon likes to hear, make her happy – isn’t that accomplishing the same thing?
Women, ah, when they’re hard to please, they’re truly hard to please, but when they’re easy to please, they’re also very easy to please~
Rosvitha looked at Leon who was grinning foolishly to himself, narrowed her eyes and asked, “You definitely have some scheme, right?”
Leon’s thoughts were pulled back by these words, somewhat bewildered, “What… scheme?”
“Recently you’re always trying to make me happy, saying mushy things you never said before. There must be something behind such unusual behavior, isn’t there?”
“Not at all.” Leon said, “Is that really how you see me?”
The Queen thought seriously, then nodded solemnly and replied clearly, “Yes.”
“…Though you misunderstand me so deeply, I’m still happy.”
“Why?”
“Because at least I’m still in your heart.”
Now it was Rosvitha’s turn to be speechless.
“Casmode, I preferred your previous rebellious self who kept threatening to chop me up. Please go back to that.”
Rosvitha sighed, “Just tell me directly what you want to do, don’t pretend with those sweet words.”
Because if you continue, I might start taking them seriously.
“Hey, what do you mean pretending? Everything I say comes from the bottom of my heart,” Leon explained defensively.
“Yeah right, you’ll only stay enthusiastic for three minutes. Once you can’t achieve your goal, you won’t say these things anymore.”
Seeing that Rosvitha still didn’t believe him.
Leon also grew somewhat anxious, “Fine, mother dragon, since you put it that way—”
Rosvitha raised her beautiful eyebrows. From his tone, it seemed he wasn’t going to pretend anymore. Hmph, I guessed right, you dog of a man.
However, unexpectedly, the second half of Leon’s words turned out to be: “Then I’ll tell you every single day.”
“No, not just every day, I’ll say it for a year—no, even a year isn’t enough.”
“I’ll say it for ten years, twenty years, thirty years, until the day I’m buried, I’ll keep saying these mushy words to disgust you! That’ll teach you to underestimate me!”
Looking at his serious, determined expression, Rosvitha knew he wasn’t lying. He really meant to say those sweet words to her for a lifetime!
Rosvitha was somewhat dazed, her silver tail unconsciously curling slightly behind her. She quietly pinched her dress hem, trying hard to suppress the shy feelings stirring in her heart, “You… you think I’m afraid of that? If you dare to say it, I dare to listen!”
The couple’s gazes met, seeming to spark invisible flames in the air. After staring at each other briefly, they both turned their heads away.
“Childish man.” Rosvitha muttered, then stood up, dusting off her dress, “Let’s go, time for dinner.”
“What are we eating?” Leon asked while following behind her.
“Stir-fried eggplant with carrots.”
“If you really make that dish, I swear, Rosvitha, carrots won’t be the only thing getting stir-fried tonight.”
“Take it or leave it, I hate picky men the most.”
“I know, except for me.”
“Shameless!”
They bantered as they walked toward the Silver Dragon Sanctuary. The setting sun stretched their shadows so long, so very long.
