Chapter 16: Happy Weekend
by reimuOn Friday evening, Leon’s family sat in the pavilion in the temple’s front courtyard, waiting for the ‘school bus’ Leviathan.
Muen stood in the yard, shielding her eyes with her small hand, gazing at the distant burning clouds.
She stood on tiptoe, her tail swaying back and forth, her anticipation for her sister’s return home evident without words.
“Muen, your sister won’t be back for a while yet. Don’t be so anxious, come sit and wait with us,” Rosvitha reminded her.
Muen reluctantly withdrew her gaze, her little tail drooping dejectedly, its tip dragging lightly on the ground as she walked toward the pavilion.
Seeing his daughter’s disappointment, Leon scooped her up onto his lap. “Missing your sister?”
The little dragon girl nodded vigorously, “Muen hasn’t seen sister for five days. Muen misses sister so much.”
“Daddy misses sister too. How about when sister comes back, we race to see who can hug her first? What do you think?” Leon patiently coaxed her.
Muen’s eyes sparkled, then she proudly put her hands on her hips, raising her tail, “Daddy definitely can’t beat me!”
“Oh? So confident?”
“Yes! Because daddy’s body gets periodically weak. I’ve calculated the time, and these days happen to be when daddy gets weak!”
“……”
Originally wanting to comfort his daughter and distract her attention, but how did his heart end up getting unexpectedly stabbed?
Does daddy look like a weak man?
Daddy is very strong, okay!
Your mom knows best.
“Sigh~”
While lost in these thoughts, Leon heard a sigh from the other side.
He turned his head to look at the pink-haired girl who had made the sound, “What’s wrong, Little Light?”
Little Light leaned forward, hands folded together, her small chin resting on her hands, and sighed again, “Ah~ a woman’s novelty is like the candle on the dinner table, it won’t burn for more than two hours.”
Hearing his young daughter’s words, Leon couldn’t help but draw in a sharp breath.
He immediately looked at Rosvitha beside him, suspecting that the dragon mother had secretly taught Little Light these nonsensical things.
The Queen shrugged innocently, indicating she hadn’t taught that.
She patted Little Light’s head and asked, “Why would you suddenly say something like that?”
“Second Sister doesn’t have the same enthusiasm for her adorable little sister as before. Ah~ Mama, my life is like walking on thin ice. Do you think I can win back Second Sister’s heart?”
“……”
The little one might be small, but she sure knew how to talk.
Just as Rosvitha was contemplating how to answer Little Light, Muen spoke:
“Little Light, don’t overthink it. Muen will always love Little Light.”
“Really, Second Sister?”
“Really!”
“Second Sister, hugs~”
Little Light jumped down from the stone bench and leaped into her second sister’s arms with outstretched arms.
The sisters cuddled intimately, their little tails intertwining.
The couple watched this scene from both sides, unsure whether to remain quiet or say something to praise the sisters’ deep bond.
While they were lost in thought, Leon saw Little Light secretly give him an “OK” hand gesture.
In the next second, the old father understood—
The plan to divert Muen’s attention was all orchestrated by Lady Aurora!
Leon chuckled inwardly, then looked up at Rosvitha.
The Queen had also caught Little Light’s signal and naturally wore a satisfied smile.
“Second Sister, will you really always love Little Light?” the pink-haired child asked.
Muen nodded seriously, “I will.”
“Really really?”
“Really really.”
“Really really real—”
Before she could finish, a voice came from the entrance:
“Muen, Little Light, I’m back!”
“Big Sister, I’m here~”
The little moon instantly transformed into a sprinter, rushing toward the entrance.
Leaving Little Light alone and bewildered.
“At least let me finish speaking, Second Sister……”
Leon walked to Little Light’s side and ruffled her little head, “Try to understand your second sister. Everyone knows she’s sister-obsessed.”
Little Light shrugged, “It’s fine, I successfully stalled until Big Sister came back anyway. Papa, my mission is complete~”
Leon snorted with amusement and bent down to pick up Little Light, “Come on, let’s go greet your big sister.”
“Mm-hmm.”
The three of them left the pavilion and walked toward the entrance.
As they got closer, they noticed a girl accompanying Noia.
Leon slightly narrowed his eyes as he looked at the dragon girl. She was slightly taller than Noia, with a gentle and cute appearance. She must be Noia’s classmate.
Muen’s tail, which had perked up upon hearing Noia’s voice, drooped when she saw this girl.
She slowed her pace as she approached Noia and the girl.
Leon carried Little Light, standing with Rosvitha behind Muen.
“Noia, this is……?” Leon asked.
“Oh, hello uncle, I’m Helena. I’m Noia’s classmate, and I’m nine years old.”
Un-uncle……
Hearing this form of address, Leon’s eye twitched slightly.
Although it was normal to be called uncle by children when you’re already a father.
But General Leon was only twenty-four years old, and already being called uncle by his daughter’s classmate……
Ah, time waits for no one, no one indeed!
“Hello, auntie.” Helena also politely greeted Rosvitha.
The mother dragon was over two hundred years old, so she naturally didn’t react as strongly to being called auntie as Leon did to being called uncle. She smiled and nodded, “Hello, Helena.”
This child wasn’t shy, but she wasn’t inappropriately familiar either. She understood the proper boundaries for a first meeting, handling it very well.
She must not be from an ordinary noble family, Rosvitha thought.
“Dad, Mom, can Helena stay at our house this weekend?” Noia asked.
“Of course.” Rosvitha nodded.
Having her daughter’s classmate come to visit was certainly no problem.
In fact, Rosvitha was happy that Noia had made a friend at school whom she felt comfortable inviting home.
Her eldest daughter had always been more mature than her peers, thinking more deeply about things, always pushing herself so hard. Over time, she had developed somewhat introverted and closed-off tendencies.
Making friends at this stage was good for Noia.
After all, she couldn’t always rely on her father and two sisters to relieve the pressure and troubles in her life. She needed some normal social interactions, to make some friends of her own.
“Thank you, auntie~” Helena gave a slight curtsy in thanks.
Then, her gaze fell on Muen and Little Light, “Noia, are these the sisters you often talk about?”
“Yes.”
Noia walked to Muen’s side and took her small hand, “This is Muen, my twin sister. The one my father is holding is Aurora, nicknamed Little Light.”
“Hello, little Muen~”
Helena extended her hand, wanting to shake hands with Muen.
Muen’s big eyes trembled slightly.
She looked at the girl her sister had brought home, her memory returning to the day she had sent her sister back to school.
At that time, at the classroom door, it was this Helena who had linked arms with Noia and led her into the classroom.
Lost in remembrance, Muen momentarily forgot to respond to the greeting.
It was only when Noia gently squeezed her little hand that she reacted,
“Ah! Ah… h-hello, I’m Muen, it means ‘moon.'”
Muen gripped Helena’s extended hand, unconsciously applying a bit more force than necessary.
Little Light, hiding in her father’s arms, watched this scene and raised an eyebrow slightly.
Oh ho, looks like there’ll be some entertainment to watch this weekend.
