Chapter Index

The Queen’s conscience wasn’t completely gone, and she eventually let Leon back into the bedroom in the late night.
The couple played around in bed as usual before falling asleep together—
Just innocent playing around, family members, nothing else, don’t think too much.
The next morning, Leon woke up leisurely.
Rosvitha was already gone from the pillow beside him, and when he reached over to feel her side of the blanket.
Judging by the remaining warmth… it was probably around seven forty in the morning.
Leon got up and looked at the wall clock.
Sure enough, seven forty.
Using the temperature of his bedmate’s blanket to estimate wake-up time, this kind of seemingly impressive but actually useless abstract behavior was probably something only General Leon would do day after day and take pleasure in.
Who doesn’t have their own special habits?
Lifting the blanket, getting dressed and out of bed.
Suddenly, an unbearable tickle came from his nostrils.
“Achoo—”
A sneeze?
Master once said that one sneeze means someone is thinking about you at that moment.
Hmm~ It must be Her Majesty the Queen, taking time to think about him even while dealing with piles of work. It seems the matter of who confesses first is still up in the air, Leon thought smugly.
But immediately after—
“Achoo!”
The second sneeze.
Master said that two consecutive sneezes meant someone was cursing you.
Hiss~ Could it be that dragoness again? Did she start cursing while thinking about me? Hah, then you can forget about getting a confession from me!
However, just when Leon thought it was over—
“Achoo!”
The third sneeze.
One sneeze represents someone missing you, two sneezes represent being cursed at, so what about three sneezes?
Master said: You still have time to think about what three sneezes mean? It means you’ve caught a cold! Take some medicine!
Leon rubbed his itchy nose, which was indeed somewhat congested—a sign of a cold.
“The Nine Hell’s Gate strengthens the body and transforms one’s physique, yet it can’t prevent a cold……”
It must have been from last night when Rosvitha left him on the balcony for quite a while, and he didn’t return to the bedroom until late at night. He’d gotten a bit chilled.
But it wasn’t a big deal.
For such a minor cold, General Leon didn’t even need medicine. He could just tough it out.
He got dressed and finished washing up, then went to the training ground in the backyard.
His daughters were there too.
Noia was teaching Muen some basic magic in the practice field.
She was on a short break recently, and after playing with Muen for several consecutive days, the overachiever couldn’t hold back anymore. But not wanting to leave her sister aside, she compromised by practicing and reinforcing her previous magic while teaching these spells to Muen.
Killing two birds with one stone.
Leon didn’t disturb them, but quietly sat down on a bench beside the training ground.
The morning sunlight was warm, and the breeze felt pleasant against his face.
But Leon’s nose was still uncomfortable, and he had a slight headache.
He didn’t pay much attention to it and continued watching his two daughters practice magic.
Soon, footsteps approached.
Leon looked toward the sound—it was Little Light.
His youngest daughter had sneaked out of the holy temple by herself again, with two anxious maids hurrying after her.
This scene reminded Leon of that winter when Rosvitha was pregnant with Little Light.
Anna was also worried about Her Majesty’s health and wouldn’t let her run around in the ice and snow.
But Rosvitha was very stubborn back then—whatever she was told not to do, she would insist on doing it, engaging in a battle of wits with Anna for a long time.
Unexpectedly, now his youngest daughter had inherited her mother’s traits from when she was carrying her.
Never obedient, always sneaking away.
“Daddy~”
No daughter-loving father could resist such a sweet and tender “daddy.”
Leon picked up his little daughter with one motion, then waved at the two maids who had caught up, indicating that he would take care of Little Light.
The maids stopped, gave a slight curtsy, and left.
Leon placed Little Light on his lap and pinched her chubby little face. “Why did you sneak out again? Have you finished all the books Mom brought you the other day?”
Unlike other young dragons who were constantly causing trouble at four or five months old, like destructive huskies, Little Light preferred to read quietly.
Any kind of book would do.
History, novels, science—as long as it was a book, she would read it.
When she encountered characters she didn’t recognize, she would look them up in the dictionary—
The dictionary was also one of her favorite types of books.
When it came to acquiring new knowledge, Little Light was a very independent child.
Just like when she was chatting with Leon at the training ground recently, saying she was developing her own learning method that suited her.
“Mm-hmm, finished them all!”
Little Light nodded, looking at her father with beautiful pink eyes. “Daddy, are there any other books?”
If there were two things the Silver Dragon Temple never lacked, one was the couple’s stubbornness, and the other was books of all kinds.
Before ascending to the throne, Rosvitha was a genuine academic achiever, and even now, amid her intense work schedule, she would occasionally read classical literature, showing her love for books.
Leon was naturally pleased with his youngest daughter’s strong thirst for knowledge and was happy to take her to see more books.
However, before that, he had some questions he wanted to ask Little Light.
“Little Light, why do you like reading books so much?”
When Little Light first showed interest in reading and learning, Leon hadn’t asked much, letting his little daughter absorb various knowledge from different books.
Now that he was certain Little Light really loved reading, Leon wanted to know the reason behind it.
If he knew why Little Light enjoyed reading, he could better guide her and help her find a more suitable path.
Little Light blinked, thought for a moment, and replied,
“Because reading is relaxing~”
Leon raised an eyebrow. “Relaxing?”
“Mm-hmm. I think compared to the magic that big sister and second sister are learning, reading is much easier.”
Little Light said, “I told Daddy before, I don’t think I’ll become someone as hardworking as big sister, nor do I have second sister’s talent, so for me, reading is something that’s both easy and can help me improve myself.”
Improve herself.
This was something that even Noia had never discussed with Leon.
The premise of self-improvement is first recognizing one’s own shortcomings and deficiencies, and then wanting to remedy them through certain methods.
It sounds simple, but actually not many people can do it.
Yet Little Light was only five months old.
Sweetheart, isn’t your thinking a bit too advanced?
“So what shortcomings does Little Light think she has right now?” Leon asked.
“Umm… many, like I don’t know enough characters yet.”
Leon paused, then couldn’t help but laugh.
Well, it seemed Little Light hadn’t fully grasped the concept of “self-improvement” yet, so Leon didn’t pursue the topic further.
He held his daughter, gently pinching her soft little hand, and instead asked, “What does Little Light want to become in the future?”
“Become what?”
“Yes, like what profession do you want to pursue, which field do you want to work in? A warrior who charges into battle, or a military advisor who assists rulers?”
Little Light’s pupils flickered as she pondered for a moment. Then she seriously replied,
“I want to… become a scholar. Or maybe a scientist.”
