Chapter 10: Sleeping in a Coffin [Third Revision]
by reimuThat’s it?
Charles crossed her arms and smiled disdainfully.
She thought the Blood Princess would have some difficult conditions, but if all it took was sleeping together for one night to escape, nothing could be easier or simpler.
After all, what could happen when both people were asleep?
It would pass in the blink of an eye.
“It seems Master Charles hasn’t realized just how difficult this game is.”
“Too young!”
“I really look forward to seeing her expression tomorrow.”
“Forget tomorrow, even the current situation is hard to handle, right?”
Under the maids’ eager gazes, Charles appeared exceptionally calm and actually put her arms around Sophie’s waist!
This not only surprised the maids, but even Sophie froze for a moment.
A princess carry!
“Oh oh oh! I didn’t expect Master Charles to be so good at this!”
“Looks like we underestimated her. After all, she’s a hunter admired by countless people, so surely girls must pursue her, right?”
“Wait, something’s not right!”
Anna frowned.
Charles didn’t hook Sophie’s legs, but instead used the strength in her legs to lift Sophie up and hoisted her onto her shoulder, like shouldering a rocket launcher.
Ah, this…
Will Master Sophie get angry?
The maids looked at Sophie, but saw the latter acting like a docile little cat the whole time, lying still on her shoulder, even making purring sounds in her throat.
That’s too cute!
Looking at Charles again, because she had gone against Sophie’s original intention, she was full of energy and vigor, with a rebellious smile at the corners of her mouth, looking refreshed and pleased!
The maids looked at each other.
So while the master wasn’t anxious, the maids were worried for nothing. Others were playing a high-difficulty win-win game, while they were already outdated!
Arriving at Sophie’s bedroom.
Charles put her down and scanned around: “Where’s your bed?”
There were no electric lights in the room, pitch black, but Charles, who already possessed a vampire’s night vision ability, could see clearly.
There was no human bed. Instead, placed horizontally in the center of the room was a pitch-black coffin.
That coffin was maintained to a glossy shine, hexagonal in shape overall, wider at the top and narrower at the bottom, with exquisitely carved roses on the sides, inlaid with purple-gold edges, and emanating the pleasant fragrance of fine wood.
It looked like a custom-made coffin, just the right size to fit two people.
At this point, Charles understood completely.
Blood Princess, you really know how to make things interesting…
Sophie pushed Charles forcefully to the coffin’s edge: “This is our bed.”
“You’ve got to be kidding me.” Charles still wanted to resist.
“Vampires sleeping in coffins is common knowledge. Come on, try it quickly, you might unexpectedly like it.”
“I’ll be damned if I like sleeping in a coffin!” Charles made no effort to hide her disgust.
No matter which race, they all believed coffins symbolized death, with humans especially detesting this thing and never keeping them at home.
However, the Embrace meant death and rebirth for vampires, and legend had it that the first generation of vampires resurrected from coffins. The narrow and dark space would bring a sense of security, making them feel especially at ease.
Perhaps this feeling had also been passed down through generations via genes?
But she wasn’t born a vampire, and was still in a living state now, so why should she enter a coffin!
Was this preparation for being buried early?
Charles sighed. Anyway, she only needed to sleep one night, grit her teeth and get through it.
Her fingers caressed the coffin, the texture indeed felt very nice, the grain’s texture gently rubbing against her fingertips.
And on the very top of the coffin was written a passage—
If there were eternal life, I could think of you forever.
“What’s this? A curse?” Charles asked, tilting her head.
Sophie rested her chin on Charles’s shoulder and laughed softly: “Does Charles know of Meslanti?”
Charles frowned slightly: “The bard from five hundred years ago? The human writer who liked to sing about the sky and racial harmony?”
“That’s right. From her scattered writings, this line has been passed down for a hundred years in blood clan love history. I thought it was nice, so I carved it on. What do you think?”
“You really have too much free time.”
Charles had no additional reaction, neither disdaining nor being surprised by it. After all, she wasn’t a sentimental person and didn’t want to chat idly with the Blood Princess about such things.
Just wash up and sleep early, tomorrow she still needed to prepare to escape.
Thinking this, she opened the coffin without any guard.
The next moment, she saw the contents inside and was directly stunned.
What is this stuff?
The coffin was actually stuffed full of body pillows printed with cute 2D anime girls!
Looking carefully, the pillow fabrics all had layers of wrinkles rubbed into them.
There was even a silver-haired loli pillow that looked very much like Charles with drool marks all over its face.
And on the coffin lid were stuck various photos of herself!!
Various… photos. When on earth did she take these?
Seeing this, a terrifying thought suddenly surged in Charles’s heart.
Would something really be done to her tonight?
Looking at Sophie again, her face showed that mischievous female brat expression wanting to tease others.
Was her decision to agree to her proposal earlier too hasty?
But it was useless to regret now. Sophie had already taken out all the pillows and piled them next to the dolls in the corner.
Then she loosened her corset, wearing a white dress, and just lay down in the coffin like that.
She turned slightly to her side, leaving the other half of the space open, her pretty face showing an expression of anticipation mixed with slight shyness.
At this moment, a thousand words couldn’t express Charles’s inner feelings. Facing an enemy who was cute to this degree, she could only gather all the blood in her body into two words—
So cute! (x)
Run away!!! (√)
“Weakling Charles, get in here!”
Sophie condensed a drop of flowing blood on her fingertip, which immediately transformed into a whip and wrapped around Charles.
After pulling her into the coffin, the two faced each other, eye to eye.
Sophie’s forehead pressed over.
Charles’s heart tightened, afraid the Blood Princess would continue the previous punishment.
“Um… could you move away from me a bit?”
“The coffin is only this big.”
Right, the coffin was only this big.
Who knows which amateur designer designed it, don’t they know sleeping space should be large enough to toss and turn?
At such close distance, the Blood Princess’s body fragrance was about to drown her!
Couldn’t sleep, absolutely couldn’t sleep!
Only now did Charles realize that being unable to sleep was also a form of torture.
And the Blood Princess’s purpose was probably to break down her spirit!
So that’s it, she understood completely now.
Just as she was thinking wildly, Sophie’s gentle voice blew over caressing her ear: “Are you asleep?”
Charles rolled her eyes, her voice somewhat high-pitched: “I-I’m sleeping with my eyes open?”
“That’s true, hehe~”
“…”
“Charles.”
“What?”
“We…”
“Huh!?” Charles got so startled that the back of her head directly hit the coffin board, causing her to gasp in pain.
Seeing this, Sophie burst out laughing: “Hahaha, stupid Charles, I was just joking, and you got so excited. You really don’t match those two words ‘legendary’ at all.”
Charles gritted her teeth, snorted coldly, and directly turned around.
Sleep or don’t sleep, who cares about you!
“Charles?”
“…”
“Hey~ Charles~ don’t pretend to be asleep~”
“Tsk! If you have something to say, say it. If not, shut up!”
“You made many mistakes today, so tonight’s punishment will be severe, okay?”
Hearing these words, Charles’s whole body trembled. What she worried about most had indeed come.
She turned her head and found Sophie looking at her with a smile, the pure emotion in her eyes almost overflowing.
That gaze was not at all the gaze one gives an enemy…
Averting her eyes, Charles said flatly: “It’s just blood-sucking. Do as you like. I can’t resist anyway.”
“You understand well.”
Sophie embraced her in one motion and opened her mouth to bite.
Charles closed her eyes. At least out of sight, out of mind.
However, after waiting a long time, no pain came from her neck.
Charles instantly opened her eyes, a blush rising on her face. Besides embarrassment, there was more anger.
To what extent did she want to humiliate her before she would be satisfied!
