“Hey, Arcs? Who was that woman you were talking to today?”

“No, that was…”

“I don’t want to hear any excuses!!!”

Black magical power resembling tentacles that had wrapped around me surged forth.

For an ordinary person, this level would cause them to lose consciousness in an instant, but for me it was merely like being bitten by a mosquito.

But even so… you know.

She’s probably doing this unconsciously, but I think she’s being a bit harsh.

How did it come to this?

I thought I had been avoiding the fall into darkness of this final boss young lady up until now.

***

I, Arcs Leefort, am a reincarnated person.

That said, I don’t remember the details of my previous life.

I have almost no memory of personal matters like my name or where I was from. If I had to say, perhaps that I came from a place called Japan on a planet called Earth.

And perhaps, that this world is the world of an otome game from my previous life.

That work was titled “Celestia Kingdom” and billed as “encountering a hundred destinies.”

A typical story where a simple commoner protagonist enrolls in a noble academy through some chance occurrence and meets and falls in love with several handsome men.

However, what was noteworthy was the sheer number of story branches.

True to its boast of a hundred destinies, it gained great popularity for allowing players to enjoy many stories within a single work.

And the person I reincarnated as, Arcs Leefort… his name doesn’t appear in any story branch.

In other words, I was a mob character.

Even though I have no memories that can identify me as an individual, somehow I retain some memories about Celestia Kingdom.

And incidentally, I also vaguely remember that I was a player who played it obsessively.

Even with those memories, I have no recollection of a person with a name like Arcs Leefort that sounds like some kind of crispy snack.

Nine times out of ten, I’m a mob character.

Well, I mean.

It seems like it would be tough to be a named character anyway, right?

It’s not like I mind, you know?

But couldn’t something have been done about this?

The main story takes place at a noble academy in the royal capital, but I have no connection whatsoever to such a place—I’m a complete commoner from the countryside. And to top it off, I have the added attribute of being an orphan.

In other words, despite being in a game world, it’s difficult to meet this character or that character.

As a mere game player, this is truly regrettable.

Well, I didn’t think I’d be able to get close to them anyway, and the world itself is of the super exciting sword and magic type.

I’m thinking I’ll try my best to live reasonably well. Maybe through some chance occurrence, I might meet a named character.
